All stock trucks to be parked in the designated parking area across the road.

 

Judging will start at 9.00 am. for the Dairy & Calf Sections

TUBERCULOSIS TESTING WITH ALL ENTRIES OF CATTLE, a certificate indicating that all exhibits are from an accredited herd and are free of Tuberculosis must be lodged with the Secretary at the time of making entry.  In addition, a certificate dated within twelve months of the show must accompany all entries, yearlings and over.

 

ALL CATTLE attending Shows must wear the appropriate AHB Tags.

 

A GRAND PARADE will be held in the main oval at 2.00 p.m.  HARVEY NORMAN Lucky Prize Draw - $100 will be available to one Cattle entry participating in the Grand Parade.

 

All cattle exhibits must be tied up and led by the halter before the judge for judging. All bulls over one year old must be led by a ring through the nose.

THE WALTER LETHAM CUP will be awarded to the winner of most points in Friesians. To be held by the winner for one year - 2009 winner - D.D & M.E. Stewart

 

AORANGI HOLSTEIN FRIESIAN CLUB donates a trophy for competition in the Holstein Friesian Section in single Classes at Ashburton, Oamaru, Waimate, Timaru, Temuka-Geraldine and Methven A&P Shows.

 

CONDITIONS ARE:

(1) Open to Holstein Friesian Breeders.

(2) Can only be won three times by same exhibitor.  POINTS to be awarded according to number of animals paraded.  Points are: Milking Classes of four or more, first eight points, second six points, third four points, fourth four points; Three animals:

first six points, second four points, third two points, etc; Bull Classes and junior female Classes of four or more, first four points, second three points, third two points, fourth one point; Three animals, first three points, second two points, third one point , etc; Champion two points, Reserve Champion one point. Competition to start at Ashburton Show and finish at Temuka-Geraldine Show annually.

Type to be scored out of 100.  Production points 3 yr old (1 point per 4kg milk solids), 4 yr old (1 point per 4.8kg milk solids), 5 yr old and over (1 point per 5.6kg milk solids). 

Milk Solid production for the 2009-10 season must be forwarded with your entry form

 

 

Junior Girls And Boys Section

 

Entry Fee $2

Prize Money: 1st $8, 2nd $5, 3rd $3, 4th $2, 5th $1.

 

To be ready for judging by 9.00 a.m.

 

Points are: 40 points for type, 60 points for condition.

This competition is for the purpose of educating cattle exhibitors, attendants and assistants to parade exhibits before a Judge in the most efficient manner.  Competitors must lead the animals which must be entered in other Classes.  The animal is not to

be judged.  Judging scored as follows:-

Attire and equipment.........25 points

Preparation of exhibit........25 points

Leading and parading......50 points

Total.....................................100 points

 

TO BE JUDGED AT THE COMPLETION OF ALL OTHER JUDGING.

 

Class 201  JUNIOR HANDLER Aged 10 years and Under

 

Class 202  INTERMEDIATE HANDLER, 11 - 16 years

 

Class 203  SENIOR HANDLER over 17 years

 

ASHBURTON DISTRICT PRIMARY SCHOOLS CHAMPION OF CHAMPION CALF

 

SPONSORED BY McKAY & DONALDSON & EVANS ANIMAL FEEDS LTD

 

Following School's Pet Parade, two calves from each Primary School are eligible to compete in competition.

 

To be judged on Saturday 30th October - 10.45 a.m.
