Home Industries Competition located within the MAINLAND GRAIN Pavilion.

 

AN EXHIBITORS PASS FOR ENTRY INTO THE SHOW WILL BE ISSUED TO EACH INDIVIDUAL EXHIBITOR IN ALL SECTIONS OTHER THAN THE HOME INDUSTRIES PAVILION AND POULTRY SECTION, WHERE TWO ENTRIES PER EXHIBITOR ARE REQUIRED.

 

ENTRY FEE: $1 PER ENTRY UNLESS STATED

 

PRIZE MONEY: 1st $3, 2nd $2, 3rd $1

PRIZE MONEY: 1 or 2 entries in class = 1st prize money

3 or 4 entries in class = 2nd prize money

5 or 6 entries in class = 3rd prize money

 

ENTRIES MAY BE STAGED:-

THURSDAY 28th October 5.00 -6.30 p.m. or

FRIDAY 29th October 8.00-9.30 a.m.

UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.

 

A rosette will be awarded to the premier exhibit in each adult section.

 

THE HOME INDUSTRIES PAVILION WILL PRESENT TROPHIES TO WINNING RECIPIENTS at 4.00 p.m. on SATURDAY.

 

The Pavilion will then be cleared at 4.15 p.m. on Saturday to facilitate removal of exhibits at 4.30 p.m.

Exhibitors must produce entry forms to gain admission to the Pavilion.

 

Prize money will be paid after 4.30 p.m. on Saturday.

 

The exhibitor will be required to present award card and sign to acknowledge receipt of prize money.

 

Prize money not collected on Saturday will be forfeited.

 

The ASSOCIATION provides a TROPHY to be awarded to the winner of most points in ADULT CLASSES in the Home Industries Pavilion.  To be held by the winner for one year - 2009 winner - Glenys Rapsey.

IDL REFRIGERATED TRANSPORT donate $10 to the winners in each class.

 

A rosette will be awarded to the premier exhibit in each adult section.

WINE ENTRY REGULATIONS

Entries are acceptable from any amateur winemaker and should have been made by the exhibitor by the process of fermentation.

 

Entries not to exceed two per class.

 

All exhibits to be shown in 750ml clear shouldered wine bottles.

 

Flanged corks to be used.  Screwtops and spirit bottles not acceptable.

 

Name of the main ingredient and Class No. to be written on a tag that will be supplied on receipt of entry.  Tag to be tied to neck of bottle.

 

No exhibits to be fortified by addition of any form of alcohol.

Cake will be cut for judging.

 

A Premier Rosette will be awarded to the winner.

Chocolate Cake Recipe:-

1 cup flour

3/4 cup Sugar

3 ounces Melted Butter

3 Tablespoons Cold Milk

2 Tablespoons Cocoa

3 Eggs

 

Put all ingredients into a bowl and beat for three minutes then add 2 teaspoons Baking Powder, gently fold into the mixture.  Place in greased tin and bake for 30-35 minutes in a moderate oven (180oC)

 

Class 755  DECORATED ICED CAKE

In the theme of the Show - "LAND TO TABLE"- Open to Young Farmers Clubs only. Cake will be cut for judging.

 

The Old Boot will be awarded to the winner.

 

Tray

Needlework

 

Entry Fee $1

 

Every article to be the bona fide work of the exhibitor/s.

 

Competitors who have won a first prize with any exhibit at any of the Association's previous shows will not be allowed to compete again with the same exhibit, except as part of Class - "Collection of Needlework and/or Sewing".

 

All exhibits must be clean.

3.  All photographs submitted for competition must not have been exhibited at a previous Ashburton Show.
