Wool Section Schedule

TO BE JUDGED ON FRIDAY in the PLACEMAKERS SHED

 

Entry fee: $3

 

Entries to be staged by 9.00 a.m. Friday

 

Wool entries to be judged and displayed in the PLACEMAKERS SHED

 

First Prize $5.00, Second $3.00, Third $2.00

 

Prize Money will be paid out to winners in the Wool Section after the Show.

 

All fleeces must be new season's wool.

Fleeces may be transferred between classes at discretion of Judge.

The Judge will take into consideration whether exhibits are typical of the breed, and make awards on type and value, and will place a tag on each fleece giving the weight and value.

Fleeces of lesser skirted weight than as set out in the table below will be disqualified from competing.

Rams                            3.50kg

Ewes                            2.50kg

Woolly Hogget’s            2.00kg

There will be no maximum greasy weight.

 

Fleeces also entered at the Canterbury A&P Show will be transported after the Ashburton A&P Show if required – please advise the Wool Convenor.

 

THE ESKDALE PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP, presented by Mr Colin D.Chisnall, will be awarded to the winner of most points in Wool Section. To be held by the winner for one year - 2009 winner - W.A. & J.M. Hood

 

NATIONAL BANK give $50 to the winner of most points in the Wool Section.

 

The ASSOCIATION awards a CHAMPION RIBBON for the best Fine Wool Fleece and the best Crossbred Fleece.

 

NATIONAL BANK give $75 each to the exhibitor of the Champion Fine Wool Fleece and Champion Crossbred Fleece.

 

MAINLAND WOOL LIMITED gives $10.00 to the best prizewinning fleece suitable for carpet manufacture.

 

MAINLAND WOOL LIMITED give prize money in the wool section.

 

MR COLIN DAVISON donates $25 to the exhibitor of the Hogget Fleece gaining the most points.

All Fleeces to be ready for judging by 9.30am Friday.

Entry Fee:   $3

Prize Money: 1st $5, 2nd $3, 3rd $2.

 

All fleeces in this section to be judged most suitable for handcraft.

A CHALLENGE TROPHY, donated by Misses J. and J. Burton, will be awarded to the winner of most points in Black and Coloured Sheep and Black and Coloured Wool Sections - 2009 winner - J.D & M.L. Stewart

 

Mid Canterbury Branch of N.Z. Black and Coloured Sheep Breeders Association donates a rosette for Champion Fleece in these Classes.
