The Ashburton A & P Association has teamed up with Christchurch’s SpicyBoys and are preparing for the first ever RD Petroleum Ashburton Chilli Eating Competition.
Up to 30 brave contestants line up to consume chilli sauces of increasing intensity, progressing from mild varieties to some of the hottest available until only one person remains, earning the title of the 2025 Ashvegas Chilli Champion and a cool $500.

Spectators can expect more than just burning tongues - the event promises big laughs, fierce faces, and plenty of entertainment, a sizzling showdown you won’t want to miss.
Competitor registrations are now open and only cost $40 to compete on Show Saturday, at the Ashburton Showgrounds. If you think you can handle the heat, get in fast for the first ever Ashvegas Chilli Competition, bring your mates and anyone who will enjoy watching you eating some of the hottest chilli sauces available on the market.
